Why Get Pet Insurance?
We all want our beloved pet to stay happy and healthy for all of it's life but most of us will have to take our pet to the vet at some point.
Pet insurance allows you to insure one or more pets against unforeseen injury or illness, usually up to a specified value. You are liable to be able to get pet insurance for most types of domestic pet, but as with all things make sure that you always check the small print carefully to ensure that you know just what you are covered for.
The amongst the common types of pet insurance are cat insurance and dog insurance but you can also insure you rabbit, horse and exotic pets for example.
Does Pet Insurance Only Cover My Pet For Illness Or Injury?
There are many different types of pet insurance offered by many different insurers, but other things you may be covered for include:
- Money towards cancellation of your holiday if your pet goes missing or needs emergency treatment.
- Money toward boarding kennel costs in the event you are hospitalised.
- Money towards advertising if your pet goes missing
- Money towards the purchase price of your pet if it goes missing, is stolen or is fatally injured.
- Liability insurance in the event that your dog causes an accident or damage to someone's property
Can I Get Pet Insurance To Cover Me For Overseas Travel?
Whilst pet insurance policies differ you can, with many, get some form of overseas travel cover. This may amongst other things include:
- Money towards quarantine costs.
- Money toward emergency treatment whilst abroad.
- Money towards the loss of your pet's passport
- Repeat Tick and Worming treatment.
